Case: Tourist resort Robinson Cub Cala Serena located on the eastern coast of Mallorca (Spain) in 2003

TUI Hotels and Resorts is a one of the largest hotelier in Europe with around 238 hotels and approximately 150 000 beds in 26 countries.In creating new resorts, particularly in the Mediterranean countries, TUI is acutely aware of the need to take environmental and energy concerns very seriously. They wish to support the development of LCCA software as they need to marry their existing LCC approach to the design of new hotels and whole resorts that can become sustainable, preferably carbon neutral, use renewable energies wherever possible and minimise water usage and waste.

For the demo case the company chose a resort located in Mallorca with beds for 514 people on a building space of 26 000m2. The resort is owned by their subsidiary company, Robinson Club GmbH. The reason for this choice was that for this case they have all the information needed: tender document, cost data, architectural details and good support from the staff.
